Women's Studies was introduced as a general subject in the Undergraduate Curricula of Lady Brabourne College,in the academic session 2010 — 2011. Total number of seats allotted for the subject was initially 20. Over the years, the interest for the subject has led to a larger number of students opting for the subject. The students studying Women's Studies General have shown academic excellence both in their College evaluation and University examinations.

The coordinators from time to time have arranged special lectures to encourage the proficiency and interest of the students in the subject. In 2017 two Special Lectures were organized by the Women's Studies General Coordinators to facilitate the students in having a better perception of the Subject. The Special lectures were as follows: A Special Lecture was delivered by Dr. Aparna Bandyopadhyay, Associate Professor, Department of History, Diamond Harbour University, on "Importance of Women's Studies in the Curriculum" on 20th July 2017. A Special Lecture was delivered by Smt. Amrita Basu Roy Chowdhury, PhD Scholar, School of Women's Studies, Jadavpur University,on "Construction of Gender in Bengali Print Advertisement", on 21st November, 2017.

Due to the inter-disciplinary nature of the subject, Women's studies General, till the last academic session have been taught by teachers from different departments of the College — mainly , English, Bengali, Economics, History, Philosophy, Political Science and Sociology. The syllabus was also shared by three Guest Lecturers who are/ were PhD Scholars from the Departments of Sociology and Women's Studies from the Universities Jadavpur and Calcutta respectively. But in terms of the Memorandum No. 2081-Edn(CS)/10M-83/2019 dated 23/12/2019 of the Higher Education Department, Government of West Bengal and Memo no. ED-95/c11971/2020 dated 24/06/2020 of Education Directorate, the College has received approval for two teachers under State Aided College Teacher – Category I.
