About

The Department of Hindi was introduced in Lady Brabourne College as early as 1960 with the appointment of a faculty on temporary basis. In 1962, a permanent post of Lecturer in Hindi in W.B.E.S. was sanctioned. Hindi was first introduced as an MIL (vernacular) subject only. From 2000-2001 it was taught as an Elective subject also and from 2010 during the tenure of the then Principal Dr. Sanghamitra Mukherjee, Hindi Honours Course was introduced for the Pre-university Course. At present MIL, Elective and HONS. , all the three Courses are taught.

Seminars are organized for the enrichment of both faculty and students and every year Hindi Diwas and Premchand Jayanti are celebrated. Students enjoy the audio-visual classes as well as special lectures from various resourse faculties from both inside and outside the College.

The students are genuinely gifted with a highly enriched Departmental library. They also actively participated in the Wall Magazine "AGARZA".

Most of the students are enrolled in the Post Graduation Courses under various reputed universities and many are placed in various Private and Public Sectors.
